Mike McCabe meets with members of the executive board of the state government weekly to advance causes facing Westfield.
He has advocated for our city to be chosen out of the four eligible bases by working with federal, state, and local officials.
Mike has been hard at work, collaborating with local union organizations and the Personnel and Legal Department to successfully negotiate 18 union contracts for the betterment of our city and its employees.
When Westfield Veterans raised their concerns about Parker Park not receiving the attention it deserved and being in need of a facelift to make it more inviting, my office took action. Mike McCabe worked with the Office of Veterans Affairs, the Parks and Recreation division of the DPW, and the Procurement Office to design and implement a plan.
The result? This upcoming Veterans Day, residents and guests will attend a ceremony at a park that not only enhances its safety but also its beauty, ensuring that our Veterans feel truly honored. It's a testament to the dedication of our community to those who've served.
He believes that the exteriors of our schools should match the excellence they house. These maintenance measures include updating greenery, renovating athletic venues, and addressing paved access areas.
Maintenance is being done on the Little River Levee, shown above, and the Northeast Tree Services are currently working on this improvement project.
National resources conservation services are in the design phase for the Arm Brook dam.
The Powder Mill brook dam is currently in the public forum phase for maintenance.
During his time in office, 17,000 ft of ADA compliant sidewalks have been added or improved throughout the city. Increasing the walkability of our city helps our citizens and our businesses!
The city has begun using a PCI software, the latest in road technology, to assess the status of Westfield roads. This system uses more than just the appearance of potholes to analyze past damage and predict future damages.
Westfields roads are a hot topic throughout every season. Construction has been started and completed on 31 roads in the city. Many more are slated to be addressed including areas that have fallen to neglect.
